Several places and interpretive routes allow you to discover freely, the history and heritage of the Pyrenees béarnaises !

The House of the national Park of Pyrenees

The Pyrenees National Park, established in 1967, is equipped with a natural, cultural and landscape heritage of exception that it is responsible for preserving.

In high Aspe Valley in Etsaut, the National Park House offers a permanent exhibition "The Great fauna of the Pyrenees". An outdoor nature trail in the trees complete the visit.

Equipment labeled "Tourism and handicap" for the four handicaps.

The EDF Space of Oloron

Located next to the hydroelectric factory of Santa Maria, on the Gave d'Aspe, the information space EDF to discover the operation of hydropower, browsing the Aspe valley.
This place also offers extensive information for the curious of nature, water and history of the use of this natural resource. A temporary exhibition space also invites you to to get to know local talent. Equipment available to disabled people.

Hydroelectric production in the Aspe Valley

The Électricité De France group has developed a circuit from Oloron Sainte-Marie to Estaens in order to share the history and singularities of the hydroelectric power plants marking the Aspe gave.

The centenary of the arrival of the train in the Aspe valley in Bedous

Work on the Transpyrenean began in the Aspe Valley in 1906. More than 2,000 workers worked, depending on the construction site, along the route between Escot and Les Forges d'Abel.The exhibition, located under the hall of the Town Hall, is realized thanks to the fund Gustave Denis, engineer and contractor in charge of the construction between Escot and Bedous, to the fund Joseph Carles, mayor of Bedous which hosted the first train in Bedous on April 21, 1914, and the Casenave collection, a shipwright from Escot.Free visit under the town hall, 64490 BEDOUS

The mountain at the height of men in Aydius

The interpretive circuit invites you to walk the streets in the footsteps of the shepherd to discover the heritage of the village of Aydius: settlement of the village, architecture of the houses, village traditions, church Saint Martin… , orientation table created by a village painter and the Maison des Mémoires.
The walk can be continued by joining the Baths of Chichit, ancient baths of the village that operated until the Second World War.

Hydroelectric heritage of the Ossau valley

In the Ossau valley, the SHEM (Société Hydro Électrique du Midi) offers a heritage and historical route on hydroelectricity. It extends from the Lake Artouste dam to Lake Castet, passing by Pont de Camps, Fabrèges, Artouste, Bious, Miègebat, Laruns and Geteu. Next to each hydroelectric works, a panel presents various heritage themes: the history of construction, architecture, operation and its evolution, the life of agents in the past...

The 18 villages of the Ossau Valley invite you to an interpretive journey in the heart of a preserved heritage. Landscapes, culture, architecture,… live our territory at your own pace according to your desires.
Panels, tables and applications are located on or near the hiking trails.

The marble of Louvie-Soubiron

The quarries of the village of Louvie-Soubiron have offered two different qualities of marble: one veined of gray and blue is called blue turquin or Bardille marble, the other of a pure white so called statuary marble of Louvie or marble of the Virgin, and used since antiquity. The latter was extracted in the area with the evocative toponym of «Pene Blanque» which means, in béarnais, the white cliff.
